school magazine - preliminary task

Before we start our coursework we were set the task of creating a school magazines that included the codes and conventions of a typical high school magazine. we were given 3 weeks to take the photos,make any adjustments to them in Photoshop and assemble the completed front cover and contents page in in design. i have achieved the following magazine by using the typical conventions such as a large title positioned at the top of the page in a stylish yet readable font.i have made the main colour throughout blue as it matched the school and the logo which has also been included on the front cover of my magazine. for the main photo i have used a mid shot of a student standing in front of the main school building this gives the sense that this is a school magazine without them looking at the title due to the student wearing the branded jumper and the school setting. For my contents page i used the same font as my front cover with both the headline font and the smaller font below. The pictures also all link into the stories for example such as for the example of "new active lunch time schedule" i have included a photo of a student outside the PE department swinging a badminton racket. this meant that the photos were not just for decoration they had a purpose being there which was to be informative about the story.
