This is a example of a contents page from rap/hip hop magazine vibe:
picture
The picture in this contents page is very large , meaning that this is an example of an image dominated contents page. In the picture it features a rapper with gold teeth, lots of gold and diamond jewellery. as well as tattoos visible on the rappers chest. The rapper is also is wearing a snap back just like drake is in my 1st front cover analysis so this could be a code and convention of rap/hip-hop magazines that I had no previously considered including in my final piece. Also in this picture the model is almost looking down at the reader and striking a threatening pose with the chains held up.
From this contents page I have confirmed the inclusion of jewellery of some kind featuring in my magazine. also I believe that I will have a image dominated contents page like this one as well as using a mid shot. The model will also have a serious expression like in this contents page.
colour
the colours in this contents page are very simplistic consisting of 3 main colours, black, white and a sort of maroon background. with a darker shade maroon for the "v" in the background. this gives the contents page a very simplistic look. drawing the reader into the stories on the right.
From this i know that on my contents page i should stick to a max of 4 colours to make it look professional and realistic. Also when decding the colour scheme for my contents page i am thinking of linking it into the front cover so it is very clear to the reader that they are part of the same magazine.
layout
This contents page is image dominated meaning that the picture fills up most of the page. With all of the page numbers etc on the left , very small compared to the huge image. The name of the magazine has also been included in the top right of the page. At the very bottom of the image it includes the name of the photographer who took the image above as well as the year published and the issue number. Also in very small letters in the bottom left it says the name of the brand the cap in the photo is from. Putting a emphasis of how being like these people and keeping up with there style must be a factor of why the reader is reading the magazine. They have also included the big "v" in the background to further promote there brand.
From this i understand that fashion is a big part of this culture and is even included on a contents page. This has made me realise that i will have to incorporate a essence of fashion into my magazine however i doubt i will do this on my contents page like in this example. Also in my magazine i may consider putting the first letter in the background like in this photo.
Text
The main title of this page is "contents" and is written in a very bold son serif font which makes it really stand out from the contrasting background. Also the word "features" at the top left of the page has been written in a fancy serif font making it stand out because it is the only serif font on the entire page apart from the other title of "fashion" this has been used to signify that these are the two main titles of the page. under these titles there is bold subtitles of the names of the articles. They have also included the magazines name "vibe" in the top corner in the same font that it appears on the front cover.
From this i may include the serif font as a title above my sub titles in my magazine to make the column of pages stand out. Also i will include the name of my magazine in the top corner of the page in the same way that it appears on the front cover to remind the reader what magazine they are reading all the way through.
